Ingredients

  • 3-4 lbs pork shoulder or pork butt
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • BBQ sauce (for serving)

Instructions

  • Season the Pork:
Mix all the dry rub ingredients in a bowl. Rub the mixture generously all over the pork shoulder, covering all sides.
  • Slow Cook the Pork:
Place the seasoned pork in the slow cooker. Pour the chicken broth and apple cider vinegar around the pork. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
  • Shred the Pork:
Remove the pork from the slow cooker and let it rest for 10 minutes. Use two forks to shred the meat, discarding any excess fat.
  • Optional BBQ Sauce:
Toss the shredded pork in your favorite BBQ sauce if desired, or serve it on the side.
  • Serve:
Enjoy the pulled pork in sandwiches, tacos, or over rice. Pair it with your favorite sides and enjoy a smoky, tender meal.
