Ingredients

For the skewers:

  • 1 lb (450g) shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes (adjust to your spice level)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)

For serving:

  • Lime wedges
  • Extra cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  • 1. Prepare the Marinade:
In a bowl, whisk together the olive oil, honey, garlic, chili flakes, soy sauce, and lime juice. Stir well until the honey is fully dissolved.
  • 2. Marinate the Shrimp:
Add the shrimp to the marinade, ensuring they’re fully coated. Let them marinate for 10-15 minutes for maximum flavor.
  • 3. Prepare the Skewers:
If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 10 minutes to prevent burning. Thread the marinated shrimp onto the skewers.
  • 4. Cook the Shrimp:
Grill Method: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Place the shrimp skewers on the grill and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until the shrimp are pink and opaque.
Stovetop Method: Heat a pan with a little olive oil over medium-high heat. Cook the shrimp skewers for 2-3 minutes per side until cooked through.
  • 5. Serve and Garnish:
Remove the shrimp from the skewers and serve with lime wedges and fresh cilantro. Enjoy your spicy, sweet shrimp skewers!
